Birthday Reflections

Today, I turn 30.

I am nowhere where I thought I'd be, and yet my life is more magical than I ever imagined.

In reflecting on my life, I notice three main epochs. First, I was an academic--student, tutor, writing consultant, neuroscientist, doctoral candidate, teacher. Then, I became a performance artist--sambista, twerk instructor, go go, pole cat. And now, I'm becoming the mystic--healer, priestess, medicine woman, voice midwife, sacred songstress.

I still have the sharp mind of a scholar, open heart of a dancer, and soul of una curandera. Yet when I ponder the question, "Who am I?"...I feel silence.

How can I say, when my identity constantly dissolves and restructures?

And yet, in this sweet not-knowing, I feel more peace than I ever have.

In short, I have no idea who I am or what I'm doing, and I'm loving every second of it!

I cherish being the Witness to my own unfolding.

If we are but fractals of the Great Mystery, how can we not reflect the ineffable qualities of the Divine? In the words of Matt Kahn,

The more undefined we allow ourselves to be, the more our experiences can expand.

Here is to the most beauteous expansion I get to enjoy in this sacred body in this precious lifetime.

May all beings relish in the awesome Truth of their miraculous nature--a truth beyond understanding.

With all my love,

Gaia Sophia
