Why I Don't Kill Fruit Flies

One day, in the kitchen, I walked into a cloud of fruit flies. They kept landing on the food I was preparing.

Immensely irritated, I grabbed a paper towel, and squished about 20 flies in a row, scowling all the while.

My hand froze in midair as I was struck with the sudden realization that I decided to kill these creatures out of sheer annoyance, and that my behavior stemmed from a root viral belief system in the other as less than...the same viral belief system that underlies genocide.

As I realized I was perpetuating this energetic in the Collective unconscious with my actions, I bawled my eyes out and swore to never intentionally harm another being again. Since then, I've delicately carried insects out of the house, playfully watched them crawl on my skin, and admired their intricate beauty. With every positive interaction, I noticed I was seeding an energetic in the Collective conscious of respect for all life and peaceful co-existence.

I notice now that this energetic extends to my interactions with people. No matter how much someone differs from me in their beliefs or behavior, I honor them as a fellow human on this Earth walk. If they act cruelly, I bless them, so they may free themselves from the insanity of suffering that drives them to behave in this way.

"May you feel peace, now and forever."

For once they are free from their suffering, they will not be motivated to harm another. The victim/perpetrator cycle will be broken. And all beings will know the freedom they are.

With all my love,

Gaia Sophia
